Downpours cause floods, other problems
Heavy downpours Tuesday and portions of Wednesday caused local rivers to rise and created slick roads for drivers but fortunately didn't result in any major incidents or vehicle wrecks.
Shooting suspects arrested
Two arrests have been made in connection with a November shooting of Lenoir man, and law enforcement officers expect there will be more to come.

Change sometimes can be difficult. In many cases, we are reluctant to change – our ways of thought, our routines – fearing what might happen if we step outside our comfort zones.

I've been one of those who has had difficulty at times embracing change, though most cases proved to be for the good once I allowed myself to do so.

Hibriten boys knock off Hickory
In the days leading up to their game with Hickory, the Hibriten Panthers heard all about Trevin Parks' last visit to Caldwell County.

They heard about the speedy point guard's 46-point explosion against West Caldwell, about his Herculean 25-point fourth-quarter, about his never-say-die attitude. So the Panthers vowed to prevent an encore performance.

Wednesday in Lenoir, they followed through on that promise. The Panthers held Hickory's star point guard to 16 points in a come-from-behind 62-59 victory over the Catawba Valley Athletic Conference's last unbeaten team.
